Review: Sephora Vintage Filter Palette

I have been looking for a more colorful, but still neutral palette to broaden my horizons with. While out shopping on Black Friday I popped into my local Sephora, which only caries the in-house brand, and their Colorful filter palettes caught my eye. They all look really pretty and there are a few different options: Vintage, Sunbleached, and Overcast. I was drawn to the Vintage palette immediately and the swatches seemed promising, so I made it mine.

The palette is on the small side with ten shadows and sturdy packaging. This is definitely a palette that I would travel with, it snaps close and it's quite compact! It's the length of my iPhone 6s and just a little bit wider, for reference. It includes a mirror, six shimmer shades and four matte shades. Two of the shades that would mostly be used for highlighting are made larger than the others, although each shadow is a decent size.

There is a wide range of color varieties included in this palette; it's got some great neutrals, but also a dark red, a navy blue, a pale lavender, and an olive green. These are the kinds of muted colors that I like to play with and I've been having a lot of fun testing out this palette, as I usually don't wear anything outside of the brown range on my eyes.

The shadows are all very soft, but not powdery. The mattes don't feel chalky at all and they have nice pigmentation. Not the best that I've ever tried, but they blend easily and the pigment can be built up! The shimmers are very fine, I haven't noticed any fallout under the eyes with them. Without a primer these started to crease after about five or six hours, but with a primer I've worn them for ten plus hours with no creasing.

The shadows included are...

Memory Lane: Larger shadow, dull gold shimmer

Cashmere Coat: matte grayish blue

Throwback: Shimmery olive green

#itsvintage: Shimmery lilac

Cookie Crunch: Shimmery chocolate brown

Distressed: Matte pinkish mauve

Secret boudoir: Larger shadow, matte pale mauve

Antiqued: Shimmery navy

Rust-ic: shimmery burgundy

Coffee break: matte cool-toned brown

Each of these was swatched with no primer and only one swipe!

Swatches from left to right: Memory Lane, Antiqued, Cashmere Coat, Cookie Crunch, Rust-ic, Throwback, Distressed, Coffee Break, #itsvintage, Secret Boudoir

All of these work really well together and they're suited for all skin tones in my opinion! Memory Lane could also be used as a highlighter, it's so beautiful. If you're in Sephora, give this palette a swatch! If you're a fan of muted colors like me, this will be right up your street. The other two palettes in this collection have some nice colors as well. You can purchase this palette online here!

Have you tried any Sephora collection eyeshadows?

Xx Katie

  2. I haven't seen this palette before! I think I would love Rust-ic. They almost remind me of the Anastasia Master Palette by Mario too! I like how Sephora's own collection is very inexpensive too!

  6. This looks so nice! I'm not a fan of greens in my makeup but I think I could get away with those.

  7. I can so see why you were drawn to this, I love the cute packaging and the shade selection too! Especially that olive green colour ^_^ plus smaller palettes are a great space saver - thanks for the review, we don't have a Sephora in the UK but if I do stumble across one somewhere in the world, hopefully I can find this haha.
