October Ipsy Bag Review

I was really looking forward to this months Ipsy bag ever since I learned the theme--"Black Magic"! I've been getting into the Halloween spirit a little early this year and I like that the theme fits with one of my favorite holidays.

As usual this month features five products, not all of which seem to fit the Halloween vibe I wanted. Nevertheless I've been enjoying trying out the new products and I've got some thoughts on all of them!

First of all, I love the Glam bag. It's pale pink with black and white Halloween shapes all over it. I can picture myself using this as a prop in my photos for the rest of the month, or keeping it in my purse to carry around the obscene amount of lip products that gather there over the course of a week.

Inside the bag are three full size products and two samples, including three makeup items, a tool and a skincare item. All are very usable even if they don't fit the theme!

The first product is a full-size eyeshadow from Beaute Basics in the color 'Satin Taupe'. Satin Taupe is a pretty, shimmery chocolate brown color and the compact is very large. It's smooth to the touch and not at all glittery, but it's a little bit less pigmented than I was expecting. This makes it easier to work with. This is a nice single shade that I think I'll use most when traveling!

My previous few Ipsy bags took a break from sending me brushes, so I was happy to see one in the October bag! It's a standard eyeshadow lid brush from the brand Lottie London. I have a few brushes like this already, but since I don't like to wash them it's always handy to have a backup so that the colors don't mix from look to look. Both the handle and the bristles are pink and it feels soft and sturdy, good for packing on shadow. This was another full-size product.

The only product for me that really suited the Black Magic theme was the Ciate London Fierce Flicks eyeliner. The packaging of this is standard for a liquid liner, it's plastic with silver writing and little silver stars at each end. This liner has a felt tip and is incredibly black! I've used it a few times just on the top lash line. Doing a wing with it is very easy, and simply lining your eyes is even faster. It isn't waterproof so I've noticed that it does fade throughout the day, but on the days I wore it the weather was quite rainy so it may not be the liner's fault. I'm really happy with this one, everyone can use a black liquid liner!

The next item is a moisturizer, which I seem to be getting often. I like these sample sizes so I'm okay with it, and my dry skin can always use a little extra hydration, especially in the colder months. This one is a sample from Promise Organic and it's their Nourishing Coconut Milk facial lotion with Hibiscus for normal to combination skin. This has a strong coconut scent to it, which I enjoy, and it's thicker than most moisturizers I've used. It feels very hydrating. I prefer to use this as a night cream as my makeup doesn't seem to sit well on thick moisturizers.

The last product I have mixed feelings about. It's from theBalm, which is a brand I've heard of and always wanted to try, but the sample size is very disappointing. It's a sample of their Hot Mama blush, a pretty shimmery coral shade, and it's about the size of a dime. I really like the color and the pigmentation but the amount of product you get is ridiculous.

Overall I liked the October Glam Bag. I'll use all of the products that were included and most of them were good full-sizes or sample sizes. I adore the makeup bag and it was also shipped to me quickly this month, which is always a plus!

  7. Lol at The Balm's blush; seriously, the size is pretty ridiculous, but other than that, this looks like a pretty good bag for the month!

  8. I wish I had the brush! I got a light blue nail polish that I don't see myself wearing. I'm looking forward to trying the eyeliner and the Hot Mama blush.

    1. So far I really like both! Blue doesn't seem like an autumn-appropriate color, seems like a poor choice on Ipsy's part
