Review: Tartelette in Bloom Eyeshadow Palette

It seems like every time I mention this palette in a post someone would like to see a full review, so here it finally is!

I received this palette as a birthday gift from myself in early February so I’ve had about two months to play around with it, try out all the shadows, and form a strong opinion about the Tartelette in Bloom palette.

First a breakdown of the twelve shadows that are included:

Charmer: Matte white

Flower Child: Matte cream

Funny Girl: Shimmery gold

Jetsetter: Matte pale taupe

Smarty Pants: Matte light brown

Sweetheart: Matte light pink

Rocker: Shimmery taupe

Firecracker: Shimmery bronze

Rebel: Matte red-toned brown

Smokeshow: Matte dark gray

Activist: Matte dark gray with a slight burgundy tone

Leader: Matte dark burgundy/brown

Half of this palette includes fairly light colors and the other half has darker colors. Being fair-skinned, I definitely use the lighter shadows more although the darker ones are great for a night out or in the crease. My favorites are Flower Child, Funny Girl, Jetsetter, Smarty Pants, Rocker and Firecracker.

All of the matte shades have the same feel. They’re all really pigmented, soft, and easy to blend, but a little on the powdery side.

The three shimmery shades, on the other hand, are all a bit different. Funny Girl is easily the grittiest shadow in the palette. It is also the sheerest. Rocker is more metallic than shimmery/glittery, while Firecracker and Funny Girl have visible glitter. Rocker and Firecracker are soft and easy to blend, like the mattes, but as I said Funny Girl has a (pardon the pun) funny formulation.

In terms of color, this is a great neutral palette. A majority of the shades are warm-toned so I think they’re really flattering with my brown eyes. I wish there were a few more shimmery shades, but that is just personal preference! I also wish there was a better highlight shade. I like to use a shimmery, light color in my inner corner and on my brow bone but none of these shadows are very suitable. If you like a matte highlight, though, you may have no fault with this palette!

The packaging of it is definitely another plus. It is sturdy and feels high-end, with pink and purple petals on the front and pretty gold writing. The inside is also metallic gold with a big mirror, which was a nightmare to photograph, but it looks amazing in real life. The eyeshadows smell strongly of vanilla, like a brand-new MAC lipstick!

The eyeshadows wear really well and can be combined in a ton of different ways depending on the occasion and your preference. When using a primer, the shadows easily last all day. And I often have twelve-hour days, so that’s saying something!

However, this isn’t my absolute favorite palette from Tarte. Because I love shimmery, neutral shades I prefer the new Rainforest of the Seapalette. I like the formula of that palette a little bit more. They’re not as soft as the shadows in the Tartelette in Bloom palette, but they’re more “buttery” if you know what I mean.

Overall, this is a winner from me. I love everything from the packaging to the formulation to the shade range, and this is one of my top five favorite palettes! If you’re looking for a new neutral palette I highly recommend this, especially if you love matte shades.

The Tartelette in Bloom palette can be found online here or in Ulta, Sephora, and other make-up stores!

  6. I just FINALLY bought this palette a couple weeks ago and I'm so in love! The shimmery ones are definitely a bit more gritty than I'd like, but using a damp brush made them preform really well (including Funny Girl)!

  12. This sounds really good, it looks like a nice selection of shadows as well. I haven't actually tried any eyeshadows from Tarte before, so a palette like this would probably be a nice place to start.
