Review: Gerard Cosmetics Star Powder

Who doesn't love a strong highlight? Whether you're after than Instagram glow or you want your cheekbones to be seen from space, an intense highlight has been all the rage?

Let me introduce you to a product that I think deserves a lot more hype: the Gerard Cosmetics Star Powders.

The Star Powders come in luxurious, heavy gold packaging that feels very high quality. The product inside is embossed with a GC and it's protected by a little plastic lid that you open after opening the compact--a double layer of protection for the soft powder inside. This makes it feel more durable than the average high-end highlighter.

This range has a selection of six different shades inspired by famous female stars (Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Sophia Lauren, etc.) I have the shade Audrey, inspired by Audrey Hepburn. I think a lighter shade might have suited me better but Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite actresses so I really wanted that shade. Audrey is a light gold. In the winter it's slightly too dark for my skin tone, but when lightly applied I can still use it all year round.

The powder is so soft and buttery that it almost feels like a cream-to-powder product. It has both shimmer and sheen, but the shimmer is finely milled so it doesn't look glittery. It's very pigmented and a little goes a long way! My favorite way to apply it is with a fan brush. If I want to heighten the glow even more, I'll put it on over a cream product. But for a day to day look, a light dusting is all you need.

If you're into the more subtle look this may not be for you, but I absolutely love it. I haven't heard many people talking about them, probably because GC isn't carried in stores like Sephora or Ulta yet. The Gerard Cosmetics Star Powders cost 36$ regularly but they are always having sales on their website. I scored mine for only $15 but I think it's worth the full price!

Have you heard about or tried this highlighter before?

Xx Katie

  13. They look gorgeous, I've seen videos of girls using them and girl, they definitely are intense! I really want to try them, I love a bold highlight, plus, I am a huge fan of Marilyn and Audrey! Maybe that's what attracts me the most, but they are really beautiful, though.

  15. Great review Hun, I have a couple of these highlighters but I just don't give them enough love. I do wish they had made the packaging a bit less on the bulky side haha.

  16. I haven't tried that brand before but that colour looks like it could suit a lot of people! I'm really, really pale so I think I'd probably choose a lighter shade too.
