Finished Makeup Geek Palette

It's been a longtime goal of mine to finish my Z palette--and a week into the new year I accomplished it!

I only have a small Z palette so now I will have to get a larger one and finish that, but at the moment I'm very happy with my shadow selection and the range of looks I can get with it.

The palette that I have is the small Sephora collection Z Palette, which holds 14 shadows. I currently own 15 Makeup Geek shadows, so I put one in my MAC Pro Palette along with my other non-MAC shadows. The reason why I don't keep all the eyeshadow pans in my Pro Palette is because only MAC refill pans will stick magnetically to the palette for some reason, and my Makeup Geek ones were constantly moving around in there which led to an unfortunate accident where several of my pans shattered, including a foiled Makeup Geek shade and a beautiful burgundy color from theBalm. After that I rushed to my local, poorly stocked Sephora and got the only Z Palette that they carried! I like the design of it, it looks like a Sephora bag, and it fits a lot of shadows securely. I might get the larger version of it later on.

Anyway, onto the shadows in the pans! I have a range of cool and warm shades, matte and shimmer, foiled and regular. I think the shimmers from Makeup Geek are my favorite. The mattes are nice but a little stiff, and the foiled have a bit of fallout but they are beautiful.

The shades that I have, in no particular order, are:

Shimma Shimma: pale pinky champagne shimmer
Grandstand: foiled rose gold
Creme Brulee: warm matte light brown
Cocoa Bear: warm mid-toned brown
Cinderella: shimmery light pink
Homecoming: shimmery taupe
Faux Fur: matte slate-grey
Coca Cola: matte burgundy/plum
Twilight: shimmery light purple

Swatches from left to right: Shimma Shimma, Grandstand, Creme Brulee, Cocoa Bear, Cinderella, Homecoming, Faux Fur, Cherry Cola, Twilight

Rapunzel: shimmery pale yellow-gold
Flamethrower: foiled copper
Frappe: matte warm beige
Brownie Points: cool-toned taupe
Cosmopolitan: shimmery orange/brown
Prom night: shimmery greyish purple

I also swatched an Ofra shadow and Urban Decay shadow that I usually keep in my Z palette. Both of these I got from Ipsy, with the Ofra being a full-sized shadow and the Urban Decay a dime-sized sample. The Ofra shadow is really nice, pigmented, smooth, and all-around a great shadow. I believe they are more expensive than Makeup Geek and MAC pans, however. The Urban Decay one is almost a duochrome shadow but I never reach for it as I hate the color.

Ofra Bohemian: shimmery khaki brown
Urban Decay Fireball: duochrome bright pink/purple

Swatches from left to right: Rapunzel, Flamethrower, Frappe, Brownie Points, Cosmopolitan, Prom Night, Bohemian, Fireball

There are still a few shades on my wishlist, and new ones added all the time, so a larger Z palette is definitely in my future! I would love to know some of your favorite shades or recommendations, particularly the duochrome shadows as I don't have any of those yet!

Xx Katie
