Review: Irresistible Me Diamond Professional Flat Iron
I have been avoiding straightening my hair for the past few months, partly because I wanted to give it a heat break but mostly because my straightener had a chipped corner that made it difficult to use. I was just thinking about purchasing a new flat iron before school started when Irresistible Me contacted me and sent me their Diamond ceramic hair straightener* to try out. It had a lot of positive reviews so I was eager to try it out for myself.
It arrived quickly in a cute magnetic-close case that will be nice to travel with, either for the straightener itself or for makeup brushes, products I’m worried about spilling, etc. I’ve been using the straightener for about three weeks now so I have a lot of thoughts!
The flat iron is red plastic with buttons on the inside to turn it on and increase or decrease the temperature. On the side of the iron is an LED screen that displays the temperature, which I really like because you can watch it heat up after picking a heat setting. I’m a bit torn about the appearance; I like the red color but because it is plastic it doesn’t look very expensive. However, it does make the straightener lightweight which is a big plus. I’m not looking for an arm workout every time I want to style my hair! The flat iron also has a 2.5 meter cord, which I’m really happy about.
The Diamond flat iron has a large heat range (between 260° and 450° Fahrenheit, 126° and 232° Celsius) and it heats up quickly. I timed it at only thirty seconds to get to the maximum heat level. It shuts off automatically after about 30 minutes, another handy feature. I like to use the 450° heat setting because it makes it faster to straighten my thick, course hair. The straightener has ceramic plates that are fairly thin. I know some people like a thicker flat iron but this width is perfect for me.
I’m not entirely sure whether this has made straightening faster for me. It seems like it has, but during the school year when I used my previous straightener I used it mostly in the mornings when everything seems to take forever. For now I’m using this at night and it seems to go by much quicker, but that might just be my perception. I hope it is faster because then maybe I can sleep in just a little longer!
Using only this flat iron and a heat protectant spray, my hair stays straight until I wash it again. The longest I’ve gone is three days, but if I really wanted to push it I think my straight hair would last much longer. Three days is pretty impressive considering I work in a humid pool several times a week! I’ve also gotten a lot of compliments every time I wear my hair straight now, from people who have never seen it straight and from people who have seen me iron it week after week.
Overall, this straightener checks every box except appearance and price in my opinion. It is somewhat expensive ($149) but I think it will be worth the price if it lasts a long time. It has a one year warranty so you are guaranteed to get at least a year’s use out of it! If you’re in the market for a new flat iron I do recommend this one. It has a lot of pros and only a few cons, depending on what your preferences are for appearance and width. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it and it certainly came at the best time for me!
What do you look for in a new flat iron?
