Finish 18 in 2018 | Project Pan Intro

In 2017 I started getting serious about a Project Pan. I'm nowhere near as dedicated as some of the people I follow, who manage to finish an entire eyeshadow palette in one year, but I was impressed with the use that I got out of my collection! I decided to continue into 2018 but with a slight twist to the usual Project Pan format.

I went with 18 products because it is so fitting for the year, but this is a rolling project which means that if I finish a product, I will add another product into my project pan to replace it and try to finish that as well. So overall, I'm hoping to finish more than 18 products. I'm focusing mostly on the samples in my collection, non cruelty-free products, and older makeup that I don't want to go to waste.

I'm also trying to use up a certain monetary amount of products. The total of all of these products is $166.11, so I'm hoping to use up a total of $200 worth of product in my Project Pan. I may extend this value if I reach it before the year is up!

1. L'Oreal Pro Glow foundation (not CF) || $11.99
Goal: To finish this and at least start one other foundation. I don't think there is much in here so I should be able to finish it quickly! I love this foundation but I don't want it in my collection anymore.

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer (not CF) || $8.99
Goal: To finish. I have a love/hate relationship with this product. I like the formula, shade, and coverage, but I hate the applicator. The original sponge-tip was impossible to wash and therefore felt unhygienic to me, but now that I've ripped it off I have to apply with my fingers, which I'm also not a big fan of doing. I'll put up with it for the year to get this used up and out of my stash. There's quite a bit left, so I think it will take most of 2018.

3. Rimmel Stay Matte powder (not CF) || $3.99
Goal: to finish. I had this in my project last year and made a good dent in it! I want to continue that progress into this year and finish it off. I like this for controlling oil and it's good for the price, but I don't need to use a lot because I have dry skin.

4. Anastasia Fawn contour powder || $14.00
Goal: to hit pan. I wanted to include a contour product into my project, but there is so much left in all of them that I didn't know what to pick! I decided to choose this one because if I finish the shade I can remove it from my collection, whereas with all of my contour palettes and duos I would want to finish all of the powders in it. This powder is much cooler and darker in person, my lights kind of washed it out!

5. theBalm Bahama Mama bronzer sample (estimated worth: $1.60)
Goal: to finish this and add in other bronzer samples. My collection is currently overwhelmed by deluxe-sized samples! I'm hoping to finish at least three bronzer samples, starting off with this sample from theBalm. It's ridiculously small so it's hard to get my brush into it, but I like the product and I want to decide if I want to purchase the full size.

6. Trestique Mini Highlighting Stick || $10.00
Goal: to finish this and add in other highlighter samples. I'm rolling this product over from last year. Highlighters are so hard to finish if you're like me and only use the smallest amount of highlight on most days. Despite that, I want to finish this cream highlighter and hopefully get through one or two other samples.

7. Clinique Soft-Pressed Blush in Pink Blush (not CF) || $23.00
Goal: to finish. This is the blush that never ends! It's one of the oldest products in my collection and I really like it, but it's definitely time to be done with it. If I don't finish it by the end of the year I am decluttering it because it's near (if not past) the expiration date. I repressed it a few months ago, which is why it's cluttered around one side of the pan.

8. Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours the Brave palette || $18.00
Goal: to hit pan on at least 5 shades. I am an eyeshadow palette collector. Some would call it a palette hoarder. I have a lot and I love rotating through my collection. I can't imagine using one up, especially one with a lot of shades or big pans. Last year I didn't even hit pan on an eyeshadow, which is why this year I decided to include a palette with lots of shade options and very small pans. I like this formula and I think I can use it in multiple ways, as a filler palette and on it's own. If I'm using a new palette, for example, and it doesn't have a good transition shade, I can reach into this MUR palette. I don't think that I'll finish it but I would love to hit pan on an eyeshadow at last!

9. Maybelline Gel eyeliner in Soft Nude (not CF) || $7.99
Goal: to finish. Another rolled over product, I use this eyeliner to brighten the waterline every day so I want to continue trying to finish it.

10. Maybelline Master precise liquid eyeliner (not CF) || $5.89
Goal: to finish. This is one of my last non cruelty-free eyeliners so I would love to get it used up so that it doesn't go to waste!

11. MAC Hue (not CF) || $17.50
Goal: to get more use out of this product in general. I have several MAC lipsticks and don't reach for them enough, so I picked my oldest MAC shade for my Project Pan. I don't plan to finish it, but I want to keep it in my purse and reach for it more often. Hue is a pale peach which is not my favorite, but it's very wearable.

12. Rimmel 45 (not CF) || $5.49
Goal: to finish. I had this neutral nude in my project last year and got about half-way done with it despite not concentrating on it a lot. I figure that if I finished half of it without really trying, I can actually use it up if I wear it more often than I did last year! I love this formula and the shade is definitely your-lips-but-better for someone with my skin tone.

13. CO Bigelow Mint lip gloss || $7.50
Goal: to finish. I had a ton of these from Bath and Body Works and I would like to get my use out of them. I'll leave it at the top of my dresser so that when I'm getting ready in the morning and my lips are dry I will remember to apply it. It's currently about half-way done.

14. Bodycology Coconut Lime body lotion (not CF) || estimated at $5.00
Goal: to finish this and add in and finish at least one other body lotion. I have gotten into the habit of wearing a lot of body lotion--which is good, because I have a ton that I need to use! This lotion smells nice and is getting old, so I want to finish it off. I can't find it online anywhere but I'm going to estimate the price at around $5!

15. Calgon Hawaiian Ginger perfume (not CF) $7.99
Goal: to finish this and at least one other perfume. Like lotions, I have a lot of perfumes and body sprays, almost none of which are cruelty-free. This scent from Calgon is very light and easy to wear and there is not much left, so I should be able to use it quickly.

16. Bath and Body Works Caribbean Escape Hand Sanitizer || $1.20
Goal: to finish this and at least one other hand sanitizer. I keep a hand sanitizer in my purse constantly so I'm hoping to use this whenever I'm at work! I get a lot of these as Christmas gifts and I love them, but of course I don't want to waste them. I can't find this scent to link anywhere but B&BW has five packs of hand sanitizers for $6.00 so I'll guess the price from there.

17. L'oreal Pure Clay Exfoliate and Refine mask (not CF) || $12.99
Goal: to finish. I was running out of products to include to reach that magical number of 18, but then I remembered my skincare collection. Most skincare products I use everyday and therefore I will use them even if they aren't in my Project Pan, but I've had this mask for a while and always forget to use it.

18. Elf Makeup Mist and Set || $2.99
Goal: to get more use out of this product. I don't have very many setting sprays, but I like using them and this is a pretty good, affordable one! The mister isn't super fine but it works for me.

Depending on the progress that I've made after two months, I will be posting updates either every two months or every three months. I made markings in nail polish on all of the liquid products and marked the stick/cream products on a piece of paper so we will be able to see the progress!

Let me know what products you find easy or difficult to use up!

Xx Katie

  3. Good luck with the project. I'm really not good with sticking to certain products. I really like to rotate through them but I really should focus on finishing a few.

  10. I'd love to know what you're planning to replace the Pro Glow with!!

    Almost all of my favorites have been discontinued, and I'm looking for almost an entirely new makeup bag (It's a nightmare!)

  11. That's commitment! I have only hit pan on items like powder and basics like that. I really like that eyeshadow palette btw.

  12. Lipstick is the easiest for me to use up as it is my favorite makeup item. And I’ll say the hardest is blush because I’m very picky. I like to be more tan than Rosey colored.

  13. I would really like to try this. It could force me to use them in different ways esp.eyeshsdow pallettes. It could bring out a creative side
