Currently Reading: April

I don't always write about it on my blog, but I am an avid reader! I have a to-be-read list a mile long but of course I'm still rereading some old favorites. Every few months I like to update what I'm reading here and share what my thoughts are on the books I've recently finished, picked up, or started!

A Conjuring of Light by V. E. Schwab
I have been hearing nothing but good things about a Darker Shade of Magic trilogy and I've been so impressed with the first two books! This is the third in the series and I think it's going to be amazing. This series is about a magician named Kell who has a rare ability: to travel to three of the four different London's in this world, Red London, White London, and Gray London. I love the characters in this series and how unique it is! The second book was even better than the first so I hope A Conjuring of Light can top the second.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I just finished reading this one for a Young Adult Literature class that I'm in. I remember hating this book when I read it in high school, but I really liked it this time around. It's so sad how a lot of the issues that this book covers still haven't been resolved here in America. If you didn't know, this is an American classic about the daughter of a lawyer who is put in harm's way when her father takes the case of a black man accused of rape in the 1930's.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
Unlike a lot of people my age, I never read these books when I was younger, but I did love the movie! Now that Netflix has made a TV series out of the series I wanted to finally read them. They're definitely for a younger audience, but I'm really enjoying them so far! I'm already on the ninth book "the Carnivorous Carnival" and I want to read that before I finish the second season of the Netflix series. This is an adolescent series about three orphans and an evil man who is attempting to steal the fortune they will inherit.

This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
I picked this up on a whim last year but I've been hesitant to read it because the issue that it covers is already constantly on my mind. It's about a school shooting but I don't know much more than that. I hope that it does the topic justice, I've been avoiding reviews of it so that I am unbiased when I start it.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling
For the past year I've been rereading one of my favorite series ever! I love the Harry Potter books but the fifth one, the Order of the Phoenix, has always been my least favorite. Hopefully this one doesn't take me too long because I can't wait to read the Half Blood Prince, which is my favorite Harry Potter book! Let me know if you've read this series and if yes, what your favorite book is!

Also if you'd like to be updated on any of these books I will likely post a review on my Goodreads page where you can add me as a friend!

What are you reading at the moment? Do you recommend it?

Xx Katie

  1. This Is Where It Ends sounds like an intense book, I would be interested in hearing how you go with it. I am currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire series. It is filling the void left when the last Game of Thrones season came to an end.

  3. Ahh, loved this post - it's always so good to see a reading post! I need new material! x I'm loving the Netflix series of Lemony Snicket's books as I was an avid reader of them when I was younger - read every single one! And so to see them shown in a different manner is really interesting - Neil Patrick Harris does an amazing job in the role of Count Olaf! x
