May Makeup Drawer

Time for another oddly satisfying clear out and organize of my everyday makeup drawer!

Primer:

Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer
I've had this for ages and I need to start using it, either to use it up or to decide if I want to get rid of it.

Foundations:

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation
I just bought this, it's a great match for me, and I can't wait to put it to the test!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation
This is one of my favorite drugstore foundations. I've just about used it up and my only complaint so far is that it doesn't have a pump. It gives high, luminous coverage.

Physician's Formula Argan Wear BB cream
My fellow makeup lovers with dry skin should definitely give this a try if they have it in your shade, it gives the most beautiful dewy finish! You can feel it on the skin but it looks completely natural and has good coverage for a BB cream.

Mixers:

LA Girl Pro coverage white foundation mixer
White mixer that I use to make my dark foundations match my winter-pale skin.

MAC Strobe Cream
I can use this either as a highlighter, a dewy skin base, or my favorite, to mix in with a foundation to make it have a more glowy finish.

Concealers and Correctors:

Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector
At the moment this is the only corrector I have, and therefore the only thing helping me out with my 5:45 am wakeup time for my new job. Like the name says, it's very brightening and helps cancel out dark circles.

Tarte Shape Tape concealer
I've been trying to switch out my products every month but this gem had to stay! I'm planning a review of this much loved, high coverage concealer soon.

Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer
This concealer is very lightweight and has some coverage, but not a ton. It's good for light makeup days and I'm trying to use it up.

Bareminerals Bareskin Serum concealer
I put this in my drawer hoping that I will soon be tan enough to use it. It's not looking promising, but I'll try my best! This concealer blends like a dream and when it is the right shade for me it's one of my favorites.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer
Many people recommend this drugstore concealer and so far I like it, but it doesn't compare to my favorite higher-end ones. I will continue to use it and the shade works well for me, but I think I will try something else when it is gone.

From left to right: Bronze Booster Contour (highlight, contour, bronzer), Anastasia Fawn, Wet n Wild Caramel toffee (highlight and contour)

Contour:

Physician's Formula Bronze Booster Contour
I just bought this today after seeing many of my favorite YouTubers recommending it! The middle shade looks perfectly ashy for contouring, and I can use the other two as well. Based on swatches these are incredibly soft and pigmented so I am excited to put it to the test.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn contour powder
Contour palettes aren't for me, but I bought Fawn as a single pan and I really like it for a slightly toned down look. It's definitely my lightest contour shade.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Contouring palette in Caramel Toffee
I've been obsessed with this duo for months, I can't believe how affordable this contour palette is! Caramel Toffe is cool-toned and great for fair to medium skin. Dulce de Leche can work, too, but I think it looks more warm. The powders are very soft and easy to blend.

Bronzers:

Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer
A staple for light skin tones, this bronzer smells tropical and applies very lightly and evenly to the skin. It's a favorite of mine, especially when I'm at my palest.

Jelly Pong Pong Aruba blush/bronzer duo
The blush is a little too peachy for me, but I really like the bronzer and I'm trying to use it up this year. So far so good!

theBalm Bahama Mama bronzer (sample)
Despite this sample being the size of a dime, I really like this powder. It's a matte, neutral tone that is easy to use. I might buy a full size the next time theBalm is on Hautelook.

Setting Powders:

Elf Mineral Pearls
These are supposedly a dupe for the Guerlain Meteorites, and I can't attest to that, but I like to use these to set my face. When all swirled together on a brush, they combine to be a slightly shimmery creamy color.

YSL Gypsy Opale Face Palette
My current favorite setting powder, this brings me so much joy to use. Truthfully you could get a similar effect with a drugstore powder, but the beautiful packaging makes this worth it in my opinion.

Rimmel Stay Matte powder
With my long work hours and luminous foundations, my skin can get a little oily in my T-zone by the end of the day. This light drugstore powder keeps everything in place and non-shiny.

Elf HD Translucent setting powder
This is my only translucent setting powder at the moment and I'm almost done with it! It sets everything well and feels silky smooth, but it does give flashback in photos.

Swatches from left to right: Butter Bronzer, Aruba, Bahama Mama, Pearlescent Pink, Mood Exposure, Candid Coral, Pink Blush, Pink Sapphire

Blushes:

Wet n' Wild Coloricon blush in Pearlescent Pink
These affordable blushes are so impressively smooth and pigmented! This coral shade is really nice in the spring and summer.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure
I just bought this at the Sephora sale and I'm already obsessed. Mood Exposure is a mauvey, almost plum shimmery shade that reminds me of my favorite blush, Benefit Rockateur. I can see what the hype is about!

Elf Blush in Candid Coral
This shade is a little softer than I had expected, but it makes a very nice blush topper. I would definitely recommend giving Elf blushes a try as they have a great formula, but I'd go for a different shade unless you have a very fair skin tone.

Clinique Soft Pressed Blush in Pink Blush
As you can see, I've made quite a dent in this blush! It's in my Project Pan for this year so I'm hoping to finish it up, therefore it's in my drawer every month.

Mary Kay Blush in Pink Sapphire
I've had this for ages and I can't decide if I love it or hate it. I have naturally pink cheeks, so I usually stay away from colors this bright, but sometimes I like the effect.

Swatches from left to right: Audrey, Opal, Maldives Luminescence, Bubbly, Creamy Beige

Highlighters:

Gerard Cosmetics Star Powder in Audrey
Audrey is one of the most intense highlighters I own, in a pretty pale gold shade. I really like the formula, but sadly I've heard many negative things about this brand so I don't think I will be purchasing from them again.

IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly
I got this shimmery pink shade in an Ipsy bag a while back. I think it works better as a blush topper as it gives a nice peachy glow to the skin.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector liquid in Opal
I got this concealer-style tube of highlighter in a duo with a sample of Opal pressed, and I like them both. The liquid version is super easy to blend and I don't find that it moves my foundation underneath. I also don't know why it looks so dark in the swatch, I swear it's not that dark in real life!

Trestique Mini Highlighting Stick in Maldives Luminescence
This cream highlighting stick is in my Project Pan and I'm making good progress with it! I like to rub my finger on it and then dab it onto the cheekbones and other high points of my face.

Eyeshadow:

Tarte Tartelette in Bloom palette
This palette is such a pain to photograph, but in person it is absolutely beautiful. The twelve shades are all really wearable and can work for everyone. If you're new to makeup, this would be a great starter palette.

Sephora Vintage Filter palette
I like to think of this palette as being full of neutral colors. It has an olive green, a burgundy, a greyish blue, a mauve, all very muted colors that I personally love on the eyes. The formula isn't the best I've ever tried, but they blend nicely and can be built up.

Marc Jacobs Style Eye-con palette in The Tease
I found this palette at TJ Maxx the other day and fell in love! Purples are some of my favorite shades to use on brown eyes, and I've never tried Marc Jacobs shadows before. I'll try to review it soon!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige
I have to admit, I never reach for these popular cream shadows. I used to use it as an eyeshadow base but I found that it made me crease faster. I'm going to try to get some use out of it before it dries up.

Eyeliner:

Ciate Fierce Flicks liquid eyeliner
I got this felt-tip liner in an Ipsy bag and I love it! It's very black and easy to get a wing with.

Eyeko Skinny liquid eyeliner
The first time I used this it smudged on me badly, so I'm trying to test it out in other weather and situations to see if I want to get rid of it.

Pixi Endless Silky eye pen in Glimmery Black
I love this creamy pencil liner, I definitely need to get some new shades!

Stila Smudge Stick in Damsel
This came in my In the Light palette and it's one of the only eyeliners I will put on the waterline.

Mascara:

Maybelline Colossal Mascara
I'm so mad at myself because I accidentally bought this in brown, but it still gives nice natural looking length and volume so I will use it. It's my all-time favorite and I'll have to get a black one soon!

Covergirl Lash Blast mascara
I used to love this mascara so I decided to give it a try to see if I still loved it. It gives length and zero clumps, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing it.

Clinique High Impact mascara (sample)
I get samples of this all the time from my aunt. It gives a nice effect, but it's nothing that you can't get from the drugstore.

Swatches from left to right: Salt Lyfe, Pepper, Honey Love, Nude Star, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Dolly, Nude, Cava

Lips:

Tarte Colorsplash Lipstick in Salt Lyfe
I've been really attracted to cool tones lately and this one is perfect! It's very comfortable on the lips and it has a satin finish.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme lipstick in Pepper
I just bought this at TJ Maxx and I love the shade. It looks like a very dark ruddy brown in the tube but it goes on much lighter and can be built up.

MAC Matte lipstick in Honey Love
This is one of my all-time favorites and I haven't used it in a while, so I need to give it some love! It's the perfect nude for pale girls.

L'Oreal Infallible Lip Paint in Nude Star
This is sort of a hybrid between a lip gloss and a liquid lipstick. It's comfortable and doesn't dry down matte, but it's super pigmented.

Marc Jacobs lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (sample)
This was the 2016 Sephora birthday gift and I love the color for a night out! I'm surprised I haven't used this up yet, so I will try to do so this year.

Buxom Lipstick in Dolly
I looooove this mauvey-pink metallic lipstick for spring and summer. I usually don't wear pinks but I will make an exception for this shade.

Tarte Lip Balm in Nude
I bought this only for the seashell packaging. No shame. It does have a slight tint and a lovely mint scent.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Cava
Kathleen Lights recommended this on her channel and it looked like the most perfect cool-toned mauve grey shade. When I build it up it really washes me out, but a light coat looks really nice. I do think that you don't get a lot of product for your money, however.

Let me know what products you're trying to use this month!

Xx Katie

I'm kinda crazy for lipsticks at the moment, so I was most drawn to MAC one, but I love the look of Trestique Mini Highlighting Stick
