July has been crazy-busy for me so far, but I always have time to test out the new products I get from Ipsy each month! Apologies for not posting in so long, my work schedule is not very convenient for blogging. I really need to get a ring light so I can take photos in dimmer light.
Anyway, this month's bag arrived a few days ago and I've been getting my first impressions of the makeup. The bag itself is probably my least favorite ever (though this orange and jean combo from February is also in the running). July's bag features a yellow cartoon character I don't recognize laying on a white blanket so it looks like a sunny-side up egg. Yellow is my least favorite color, I don't know this character, and I hate eggs so overall this bag is a no from me.
As to the products inside, I'm much happier with the July glam bag. I've decided to list the products from my least favorite to my favorite and share my first impressions of them!
Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mandarin Green Orange and Ginger Lip Conditioner
I don't dislike this lip balm, it actually smells really good, but I don't like lip balms that smell nice but don't really do much. This one gives a bit of hydration but I feel like I have to reapply it constantly. I will keep it at my bedside table and use it, but I definitely prefer a longer-lasting balm for the nighttime or my purse.
Trestique Mini Concealer Crayon in Porcelain
I like Trestique as a brand, so I was excited to see them in an Ipsy bag again. Their mini highlighting stick has lasted me more than a year and I use it more often than any other highlighter! Though I like Trestique, I'm not a fan of stick concealers. I find that they're a bit dry and hard to blend out, even if they have good coverage. This one is a good match for my skin so I might use it on blemishes, but not under the eyes.
Nomad Illuminated Highlighting Powder in Midnight Sun
I'm always happy to try out a new highlighter, but at this point in my collection I have too many and half of them seem like the same shade. This one, being a mini-size, is even less useful in my collection. It is a really pretty, intense highlighter and I might take it traveling, but I don't see myself reaching for it a lot.
IBY Beauty Crease Brush
A big gap in my brush collection is a detailed blending brush. I've been meaning to pick up one for ages, but now I don't have to! I haven't used this yet but the soft, tapered bristles seem perfect for getting into the crease. If you're also missing a brush like this, you may want to check it out.
Swatches: Park Ave Princess, Midnight Sun, Porcelain
Tarte Bronzer in Park Ave Princess (parent company not cruelty free)
This is undoubtedly my favorite product from the bag. I love Tarte powders in general and I was beyond pleased to get a good-sized sample of this. The packaging is really cute and the product feels soft and has just the slightest sheen, perfect for summer. I can't wait to use it more, and the color is good for fair skin.
Overall, this isn't my favorite Ipsy bag (in terms of products) but I've heard great things about Park Ave Princess and I've always wanted to try it. I got a few other useful products so I do feel that it's worth my $10! Best of all, all of these products are cruelty-free (with the possible exception of Tarte depending on what you consider cruelty-free!)
Would you be excited about any of these products?
Xx Katie

We didn't get any of the same products this month and I kinda wish I had gotten the highlighter. I didn't like the bag much myself, at first I just that is was odd but when I looked at the other side of it I was just like NOPE!
ReplyDeleteA Sparkle Of Grace
I love the character, and I actually liked seeing his butt! But I'm weird like that. I got the banana powder and lip treatment that I loved. When I subscribed to ipsy 3 years ago they gave me the Park Ave bronzer but it was wayyy too light, but I'm sure it would be better on you

Floraful
I wish they were better with skin tones, I've gotten a lot of things that are too dark and I think people with darker skin definitely get a lot that is too light!
DeleteIt really does look like great value for money, $10 is such a great deal xx

I think it's from a cartoon! I'm not really sure but I think the creator of Ipsy is a fan of the show/comic it is from
