It feels like ages since I last did a favorites post! Most months seem to go by quickly, but April was full of exams, end of semester projects, and stress so it seemed to drag on. But there are a ton of pop culture and beauty things I discovered this month that made it all (almost) worth the stress!
Sorry for not posting over the past week! It was the dreaded finals week but I’m officially done with my first year of university so I’ll have a lot more free time to write and plan blog posts. Anyway, on with the favorites!
I’m sure I’ve talked about this in a favorites post before, but I’ve been using this palette so much lately that I need to include it again. It’s a great neutral palette but the shadows are quite unique and the quality is amazing! Full review here.
I’ve also been using a lot of single eyeshadows, and out of my recent MAC eyeshadow purchases this one is my favorite. It’s a beautiful gold with pink undertones and a slight shimmery finish. It looks great with almost any other eyeshadow.
Another single eyeshadow, the quality of this stunned me. I’d been looking for a rose gold eyeshadow and was really glad to find it at the drugstore. With a pigmented, metallic finish this is perfect for a night out or it can be blended to look more subtle. I’m obsessed with it!
This is truly a palette that I have been reaching for every single day. With two shades I use as bronzers and three stunning blushes, I have everything I need in this palette. I like to use Hoola for contouring, Dallas (which is actually a blush) as a shimmery bronzer, and I rotate between Dandelion, Coralista and Rockateur as blushes. Full review here!
I’ll admit, I only watched this because one of my favorite actors, Luke Mitchell, is in it, but it turned out to be really good! It’s about a group of guys who decide to rob a bank and plan to be in and out in 7 minutes. Needless to say, their plan doesn’t quite work out!
When it comes to TV, I’m not really a binge watcher. I watch a few episodes of this, a few episodes of that, and never end up finishing anything. But for some reason I marathoned this show and watched all 13 episodes in 24 hours! I really like the characters and it’s entertaining, always making me want to click ‘one more episode’. Shadowhunters is based off the Mortal Instruments book series, which I’ll talk about later on in this post.
I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson
With all the exam stress, I was in need of some laughter. Shane Dawson is one of my favorite YouTubers so if his book was half as funny as his videos I knew I would like it! I Hate Myselfie is a collection of essays written by Dawson on topics ranging from his prom experience to catfishing a mean kid at his school. I couldn’t read this in front of other people or they’d think I was crazy for laughing so hard!
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
After watching and loving Shadowhunters, I had to read the book series. I ordered all six in the series and I’m currently on book 5. The books, like the show, are about a girl named Clary who discovers she is a half-angel referred to as a shadowhunter because they fight demons. It’s very supernatural, which I like, and there are a lot of twists and turns to the plot.
Selena Gomez Revival album
On a whim I bought this album and I don’t regret it in the slightest! The songs all have great beats although my favorites are probably the more popular ones like Good For You, Same Old Love, and Revival.
And those are all of the things I’ve been enjoying this month! I’d love to hear about some products or entertainment recommendations. What are you obsessing over lately?
