Several weeks ago I decided that I wanted to try the
Colourpop highlighters and a popular shade of their Lippie Stix, Lumiere. Then
I discovered that in the US you only need to spend $30 to get free shipping, so
needless to say I took advantage of that offer and picked up a few more items!
If you haven’t already heard, Colourpop is an affordable
makeup line that is relatively new and it’s been raved about all over the
blogosphere. I’ve only tried one item from them, a crème Lippie Stix in
Aquarius, so I wanted to get a good assortment of products while I was placing
the order.
Unfortunately there was a little mix-up and at first I didn’t
receive Lumiere. In its place I was sent the Lippie Stix Nevermind, a deep
plum shade that I can never see myself wearing. Had it been a nicer color I
probably would have left it alone, but I emailed Colourpop about the mistake
and was sent the proper shade. Their customer service was great and they
replied quickly! I suppose I got two products for the price of one and maybe
someday I’ll be bold enough to wear a purple lip. Maybe.
Lumiere arrived a few days ago and I'm so glad I got it; the color is a deep mauvey pink and it's so pretty! The matte finish last for ages.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Colourpop Super Shock
eyeshadows so I picked up three, two of which I featured as inspiration for my
If I Designed My Own Eyeshadow Palette post. Cricket, a neutral shimmery plum,
is my favorite. It’s a nice little pop of color on the eyes that isn’t too
bold. The formula is hard to describe because it feels almost like a
cream-to-powder product but it’s just a powder.
The other two shadows I got, Flower Shop and I <3 This, I’m
not as happy about. Flowershop is a bright teal shade but online it looked more
like a pale jade. I’ll try to wear it in the summer but it might just be too
bright for me. Swatches of I <3 This looked absolutely gorgeous but it seems
to be mostly glitter, which I’m not crazy about. I’m hoping that the glitter is
just a spray-over and as I get deeper into the product it will go away. Both of
these shadows have the same creamy texture that I like about Cricket.
I also picked up a highlighter in Lunch Money and it is
absolutely stunning. The cream texture is even more pronounced in the
highlighter than in the eyeshadows. This makes it difficult to pick up with a
brush, but I like to swipe it on my cheekbones and then blend it in with a
sponge. Lunch Money is pure sheen and it’s not as intense as my other
highlighters, so it doesn’t leave a stripe across the face even if you apply it
with your fingers. I love it and I’m hoping to get some other shades! I think
Lunch Money would be flattering on a ton of skin tones as it’s a neutral
champagne shade that isn't too pigmented.
The last product I added to my cart was one of the Ultra
Satin Lip. From what I’ve read about Colourpop’s liquid lipsticks, the Ultra
Matte lips are quite drying so I knew I wanted to avoid those. The Satin lips
are said to be less drying and matte so I went with a light nude shade called
Magic Wand. I love it so far and even included it in my 10 Autumn Nudes post! I
forgot to swatch this shade with the others so if you’d like to see it I did a
swatch in that post.
Based off my experience with the shadows, I don’t think I’ll
place an order anytime soon. At the very least I’ll do a lot of research on the
shades I get. I do love the lip products and the highlighters so I’m going to
check out more shades from Colourpop!
Have you tried anything from Colourpop?
Xx Katie
I find the shadows to be very hit and miss for me, the shades aren't true to colour at all! Love Lumiere though!

i really like your pics !! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just got a new background and I'm really happy with it :)
DeleteI wish it was cheaper to order ColourPop from Canada but the shipping fee can be quite pricey and the exchange rate is also not in $CAD favour for now. I'm dying to try Lumiere, maybe one day I'll get my hands on it.

It might be easier to order it off of Ebay or something like that! I got my first Colourpop lippie stix from Ebay because I only wanted the one item and with shipping it was less expensive on Ebay.
DeleteLumiere is such a pretty shade :) You got some great stuffs !

If I had known about Flowershop I would've immediately purchased it. I love their liquid lipsticks, even though they are really drying. They have beautiful shades.

I really want to get my hands on Colourpop, I think there is a promotion going out today for international shipping at one point and Lumiere is on my list! I have to say that ! <3 This eyeshadow does look a little bit patchy in the swatch which is a little bit of a disappointment! xx
