Whether you like thriller, fantasy, or comedy books I have something here for you! I like reading multiple books at a time, especially if some of them are rereads. I have been so impressed with the books I've been reading recently so I wanted to continue my 'Currently Reading' series!
Personally, I will read just about everything. I like crime books, dramas, biographies, classics, fantasy...you name it! The only genre I don't like is romance as I find the stories quite predictable. Throw a bit of romance into another genre, however, and I'm down. Therefore if you are looking for some recommendations look no further!
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
A reread for me, this is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series. I read it last summer after watching the Shadowhunters TV show and I like the books, too! Cassandra Clare is a great fantasy writer and I like all of the books I've read by her so far. It's more of a fantasy series about a girl named Clary who meets a group of shadowhunters, demon-hunting half-angels, and learns that she is one, too.
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Flynn is the author that made me enjoy reading crime thrillers. I had always considered them really cut and dry, like a CSI episode that always gets wrapped up nicely with no loose ends, but Gone Girl, Sharp Objects, and Dark Places challenge the genre and are just incredible. I can't decide which is my favorite. I recently reread Gone Girl, fell in love with it all over again, and decided to reread Dark Places, too. It's about a thirty-something named Libby who is best known as being the only survivor and witness of the Kansas Satan Massacre, which her brother Ben was put in prison for. Libby is sort of an antihero; she's lazy, depressed, and a shoplifter, but she gets the opportunity to earn money from a club dedicated to solving (or re-solving) the Satan Massacre and has to dive back into the mystery of what really happened that night.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
This has been a highly recommended fantasy series and I finally decided to pick it up. I'm not far into it yet, but it's intriguing and I like it so far. The main character, Feyre, gives me definite Katniss Everdeen vibes. She is a skilled hunter and has to take care of her family after they loose their fortune. One day while hunting she kills a fairy disguised as an animal, and then to fulfill the laws of this world she must either be killed for her crime or go live in a fairy household for the rest of her life. I haven't discovered the main plot yet, although I'm definitely sensing some romance in the future.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
Who doesn't love the movie based on this book? It's one of my favorites and I remember liking the book as well. If you don't already know, it follows a woman named Andy who gets her first job in journalism working for an Anna Wintour-inspired boss, the editor of the fashion magazine Runway. Andy works tirelessly to please her and completely changes as a result of her boss and the snobby girls at the magazine. If you like the Shopaholic series I think you would really like this! I remember it being really funny.
Things We Have in Common by Tasha Kavanagh
This book is narrated by the most interesting character I've come across in a while. Yasmin is a teenager who is struggling with her weight, bullies, and her father's death. She is fixated on one of her classmates named Alice, not in a romantic way but in a vaguely stalkerish way. From Yasmin's perspective it seems like she just wants to be Alice's friend and protector, but she has a collection of things Alice used to own or had used and she does follow her around on occasion. She suspects a mysterious man of wanting to kidnap Alice and I haven't decided if this is a delusion of Yasmin's or not. I'm not far in this book but it's super intriguing!
I would love to know what you're reading right now! I always need more recommendations.

My Sister used to go on about the city of bones all the time, she loves that kind of YA. I'm going to have to pick up dark places because I loved her other novels, and I still have the devil wears prada sitting on my bookshelf. I'm going to reread the Harry Potters now because I know if I don't start now, I probably won't for another couple of years xx
