The Fall Favorites Tag
With the leaves at their color peak and Halloween just around the corner, there's no better time to talk fall favorites!
I was tagged by the lovely Honey from Royal Lifestyle to do this post about my favorite things in each category during autumn. Most of my routine changes as the weather gets colder, so I have a lot of new discoveries and old holy-grail products to discuss!
I love metallic eyes for the fall. Rose gold, copper, bronze and gold shades are my favorite. Makeup Geek's Flamethrower has been getting a lot of use lately, as well as my trusty L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Amber Rush! As for palettes, I can get a huge range of fall-appropriate looks with the Morphe 35OS palette (review) and the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Makeup by Mario Master Palette (review).
I must admit, up until a few weeks ago I wasn't a candle person. I only ever lit them when the power went out. Now I've started buying a lot of autumnal scents and I like to light them while I'm studying! I love Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Apple and Luminessence Pumpkin Pie.
I had been meaning to pick up Thierry Mugler's Angel perfume for ages now, and after reading Face to Curls review of it I finally placed my order. Since it arrived I've been wearing nothing else! To me it smells like chocolate, caramel and spices but from what I've read this is a fragrance that really relies on an individual's body chemistry. Give it a try if you see it on display, I think it's a great, warm autumn/winter scent!
Favorite nail polish
I love love love red nails for the fall, especially dark red. Jump in my Jumpsuit from Essie is my favorite, it's really opaque it lasts well. Sometimes I put a matte topcoat on top of it if I want something a little different.
Favorite lip color
I have two that I've been wearing a lot. To school I've been wearing MAC's Velvet Teddy a lot, it's a beautiful terracotta brown nude. I also love the classic Kate Moss for Rimmel 107, a dark wine red. Both of these are very hyped shades around this time of year, so if you haven't tried them out I recommend both.
Favorite Halloween costume
I haven't dressed up for the past few years, but I always like to wear something fancy and glamorous. One year I wore my friend's turquoise mermaid-style prom dress to a costume contest. Other years I've dressed up as rebel Sandy from Grease, Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's, and a flapper from the 1920's. I still have the flapper dress so I would definitely wear that again! I curl my hair into tight ringlets, wear a black lace fringe dress, get a costume cigarette holder, throw on some pearls and a feathered headband and call it good.
I'm not a fashion blogger for a good reason, and that reason is I keep my style very, very simple. I wear jeans every single day. The only accessories that I wear are statement necklaces like the one pictured above, which is from H&M. I like wearing a simple shirt and having a big necklace glam it up a bit. I also like knit socks that stick up over my riding boots!
Over the past few years my favorite moments from this time of year are always going out with my friends and doing fall-appropriate things. There's an annual Haunted Trail near my house that's always terrifying and fun. I also love carving pumpkins and getting dressed up for Halloween.
This is going to baffle some of you, but I've never had a pumpkin spice latte. There is no Starbucks near me and I haven't liked anything pumpkin spice flavored that I've tried. Blasphemous, I know. Therefore my favorite fall drink is definitely hot chocolate!
Favorite TV show
Other than American Horror Story (which I'm loving this season), I can't think of any autumnal TV shows. The shows I've been watching live are Scream Queens, the Real O'Neals, AHS, South Park and How to Get Away With Murder. The Vampire Diaries is also premiering soon, along with the Walking Dead, so my TV schedule is pretty booked at the moment!
This wasn't in the tag, but I decided to include it anyway because what's a fall favorites post without mentioning Hocus Pocus? I have it recorded and I can't wait to carve pumpkins while I watch it! I've also been having a Harry Potter marathon and I can't wait to watch all the Halloweentown and Addams Family movies.
