Around this time last year, a very special piece of the Internet called 'BeautyFromKatie' was created. I no longer know the exact date as I started on Wordpress and then decided to switch to Blogger a few weeks later, but in October 2015 I got up the nerve to start my own blog!
Since then I've learned a lot and my posts and site are looking much cleaner. If you have seen any of my blog posts from October--December 2015, you deserve some credit because they are bad. However, I have had a few posts get especially popular so I wanted to do a round-up of my most viewed blog posts!
I think it's a good idea to check out which of your posts are doing well. Usually once they get down five or six notches in my published section I stop looking at the view count because I assume no one else is going to look at it. To my surprise, some of my posts from six months ago have hundreds more views than I expected them to! It's always good to know what kind of content attracts viewers to your blog so you can expand on that and know what your readers and outside viewers like. With that in mind, here are my five most viewed posts!
5. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette
This is still one of my most-used palettes and possibly the prettiest makeup item I own. The packaging and shadows all screamed my name and I ordered this on the first day of it's release. Looking back, there are a lot of things I would do differently with this post. For one, I would have done a proper review instead of a first impression. I would have a lot more good things to say and it would simply be a better, more informative post. I've heard that Tarte is re-releasing this palette (it was limited edition) so I might give it a proper review this time around!
4. Real vs. Dupe: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette
I was surprised that this post was so popular! Generally my posts about brand-new products are what get the most views, but I published this one over the summer ages after this palettes' release. My unfortunate incident of buying a fake Too Faced palette payed off in one way, I suppose. It was interesting to see the difference in high-quality vs. lower quality shadows. Hopefully I will not do a post like this again, but I have found a few dupes in my collection that I'm planning on doing a post about!
3. Thoughts on the MAC Vibe Tribe Controversy
This was the biggest surprise for me as this post is quite different from any other on my blog. I'm really glad that this has reached so many people because it's about an issue that is really important to me. I'm very interested in social justice but I haven't incorporated that into my blog a lot, and if I did I would try to incorporate beauty/makeup somehow the way that this post did. If another issue like this came up I wouldn't hesitate to speak my mind on it! I'm realizing that I have a voice and whether it's large or not I should use it to talk about things that are important to me.
2. Review: Benefit Cheekathon Blush Palette
Another product I still use and love, I bought this as soon as I heard about it. Five full-size Benefit powders for the price of two? This was an amazing deal and it made a great post! I remember I had been looking for Rockateur and Hoola for ages and I was going to buy them individually, and then I heard they were both in this palette. I'm so glad I waited as I've now fallen in love with Dandelion and Coralista, too. This is just a standard review so I don't think I would change anything about it, although my photography skills weren't great! (To be fair, they still aren't haha)
And here it is...my most viewed post ever! You guessed it...another product review!
1. Review: Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint
This post was another surprise hit. These had been launched a few months before I got around to purchasing it. So unlike the Benefit Cheekathon and the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette, I was late to the game on reviewing this liquid lipstick. Although I personally love it, this line hasn't received a lot of hype so I hope my post encouraged some other people to test it out. I've been meaning to get some more shades since I uploaded this way back in February, so now even my own reviews are influencing my shopping addiction. Sigh. The wishlist never ends.
I've had a fun/nostalgic evening of looking back on my blog! I can't believe it's been a year. It simultaneously feels like I've been doing this forever and it feels like I just started. BeautyFromKatie has improved in so many ways and I'm proud so of my little blog!
For the future I want to continue posting three times a week, reviewing products I love and hate, and maybe talking about things that aren't just beauty-related. I have some great posts coming up so stay tuned, and thank you for supporting my blog just by reading this post!

Congrats! My blog is almost one year old and I plan to celebrate haha! I love your photos, when I started a year ago, I knew nothing about photography and the photos of my first posts were awful, I thought about changing them but I decided not to as they remind me of how far I am now and the countless hours I dedicated to this blog! :)

Happy bloganniversary! From time to time, I check my old posts to see my progress, it makes you feel better :) Posting three times a week is not easy. When you work fulltime, then it gets even harder :) Looking firward to seeing your future content!

Congratulations on one year and that is quite the milestone! I think we all started not knowing what the heck we were doing, I mean I cringe whenever I read back my old posts and am tempted to delete them. The only reason why I never deleted them is they serve as a reminder of how far I've come along in blogging.
