Top 10 Favorite Disney Movies

If you don't have a favorite Disney movie, I don't trust you. Whether you prefer the Pixar/Disney collaborations, the Princess stories, or the musicals, I think Disney has something for everyone and I'd be lying if I said I didn't still enjoy watching them! My favorite Disney movies all have ties to my childhood and I wish I could still watch my collection. Sadly they're all on VHS and I no longer have a VHS player! I'll have to settle for watching them with my cousins at Christmastime, where my 21 year old sister and I are paying far more attention than my younger cousins!

1. Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
I used to watch this on repeat when I was little. While I love the original Lion King, the sequel revolving around Simba's daughter Kiara and Scar's heir Kovu is my all-time favorite Disney movie. I know a lot of people don't like Disney sequels, but this one has a really good plot and I love the music! I hadn't seen it in a long time but when I rewatched it recently all of my great memories about it returned. I even remembered the songs!

2. The Great Mouse Detective
This little-known movie inspired by Sherlock Holmes was another favorite of mine growing up. I still love anything based on Sherlock Holmes, so it makes sense that this is on my list. In general I prefer the non-musical Disney movies and this is one of them. I wish more people knew about this one!

3. The Aristocats
I like the animal movies, if you can't tell. I used to come home from school and watch this one on repeat, along with #1 and #2 on this list! I thought the cats in this were absolutely adorable and I also really like the geese characters.

4. Alice in Wonderland
I never actually owned this Disney movie but I requested it whenever I went to my aunt's house. Something about Alice's journey really enchanted me, I loved the bright colors and strange characters. It sounds weird but this movie reminds me of my dreams, because they're so nonsensical and bright!

5. Sleeping Beauty
My favorite princess was Aurora (although she barely makes an appearance in her own movie?) so this classic makes my list, too! In my opinion the best fairy tales and myths involved castles, knights, faeries and dragons and this fairy tale-inspired film is no exception. Which reminds me, I still haven't seen the live-action Maleficent movie!

6. The Rescuers
This movie terrified me when I was little but I watched it at Christmas recently and I actually liked the storyline a lot. It's one of the darker Disney movies involving a kidnapped orphan, pirate treasure and a scary-ass submerged cave. Plus animals.

7. Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea
The original Little Mermaid is good...but I always found it hard to relate to a mermaid who wanted to be human. A human that wants to be a mermaid, however...that I can get behind! This sequel revolves around Melody, Ariel and Eric's daughter, whose ocean past is hidden from her because of a threat from Ursula's evil sister.

8. Aladdin
When I was in elementary school I was in an acrobatics-dance group and we did a play based on Aladdin, so now whenever I watch the animated version I'm reminded of how much fun I had doing that play! The music in Aladdin is amazing and Jasmine was always one of my favorite princesses.

9. Emperor's New Groove
My best friend had this movie and we would always watch it in the car when we were going anywhere together. It's a funny, quirkier option from Disney that is about a (Incan? Mayan?) spoiled young prince who gets turned into a llama.

10. Hercules
I haven't seen this one in ages but I love Greek mythology so I know I would fall in love with it all over again! I prefer the Disney movies that are based on plot and adventure and Hercules definitely fits the bill!

Honorable Mentions: Tangled & Frozen
My favorite Disney movies all can be traced back to my childhood, but some of the more recent releases have impressed me, too! I haven't seen the Princess and the Frog yet but I think that I would like it. Tangled and Frozen I have seen and really liked. The animation is more fancy but the storylines are just as good, if not better, than the classics. I'm always down to watch Tangled with the younger members of my family, and who doesn't know the words to Let It Go?

Let me know your favorite Disney movies in the comments below!
Xx Katie

  2. Damn, I'm such a horrible person. I've probably seen only 3-4 movies and it was ages ago. I should do some Disney movie weekend so I could watch all of these on the list.

  3. So refreshing to see a blog post like this! I loved Aladdin when I was small and I still love it. Then, the Beauty and the Beast and more recently, Mulan. Childhood memories come alive right now - used to watch Disney once a week at least. When the Lion King came to Greece, it was such an exciting time for me! Hope you're having a good weekend!

  6. I love the Emperors New Groove as well, I think it's amazing that kids films like this one can still make you laugh when youre an adult. My favourite ever kids film was Anastasia though, although I know that's not technically Disney. If you haven't seen it you need to get on Netflix to watch it, it's the best!

  27. When I heard about this movie, I was very intrigued that Walter Hill was attached to direct, and Stallone was to star, two people who I thought could pull off a great action movie. After Stallone had proved he still had what it took to make an action movie with Expendables and Expendables 2, I thought this movie could offer something koktale to the somewhat stale genre the action movie has become.

I must start by saying that this movie was incredible. Truly. It was brilliantly (and I mean freaking BRILLIANTLY!) cast, and the acting, script, scope and emotional impact was extraordinary. ดูหนังออนไลน์
